White River Calm

“White River Calm”, 60″x60″, acrylic on canvas

Had the pleasure again of spending some time at Gaston’s White River Resort this November with my brother-in-law West Hornor from Helena, AR, along with some of his college friends from UoA days. Great food and fellowship shared between some very talented folks. Best of all were stories told after a few adult beverages or sipping morning coffee on the deck overlooking the White River. Each story seemed to get more elaborate, convoluted and humorous. Water level was high so fishing wasn’t optimal for wading. I did manage to hook a few nice rainbows from my riverside setup consisting of a folding chair, spin casting rig, tackle bag, ice chest and camera. This painting, “White River Calm”, was inspired from a pic taken in the early morning looking east as the sun was breaking over an Ozark Mountain ridge towards Parte (par•tee) Shoals. Great memories of traveling down these shoals in the early morn with Dad and brother Phil. Looking forward to next November’s trip to see what inspiration mother nature will reveal.
